The Imposters started out as a cover band (hence the name) in Northern California, always putting their own twist on songs, but quickly transforming into a deeper more expressive band writing songs about personal life and experiences. Their influences range from Fleetwood Mac and Tyler Childers to Noah Kahan and The Civil Wars.

Their roots come from singing and playing in the church and ventured out into playing for the masses. Kristen Joyce, the lead singer, has been singing her entire life with her most influential experiences being an African gospel choir she was a part of in college. "I learned how to sing by ear, how to sing with passion, and how to be true to herself." 

Jordan is a multi-instrumentalist whose musical journey began behind the drums and piano before gradually expanding into guitar, songwriting, production, and live looping. Years of playing rhythm shaped his approach to making music, grounding it in feel, dynamics, and how best to serve the song. As the guitarist for The Imposters, Jordan combines expressive playing with layered arrangements and an ear for creating clean, emotional sounds that give familiar songs a new identity while helping shape the band’s original music.

The Imposters have continued to grow throughout Northern California, performing at the inaugural Truckee Music Fest in 2024, Fellow Fest in Clarksburg in 2026, and being named 2026 Best of Tahoe winner for live music.

Their cover repertoire ranges from Michael Jackson, Chris Stapleton, all the way to covering 90s Hip Hop. They create a fun environment and can adapt to any crowd situation on the fly given their large set list of diverse songs.
